ALTCS (Medicaid) Assistance

The Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) program is for individuals who
are 65 or older, blind, or disabled and need ongoing services
at a nursing facility level of care.

However, program participants do not have to reside in a nursing home.
Many ALTCS participants live in an assisted living group home or
their own homes and receive needed in-home services.

Veterans' Aid and Attendance Improved Pension Benefits

If you are a Veteran or the spouse of a Veteran, 65 or older, with 1-day duty during
a “Declared State of War” you may qualify for up to $1,732 a month.

This important benefit is often overlooked by many families with Veterans or surviving spouses who need additional monies to help care for ailing parents or loved ones.

Independent Cost of Living Assistance

If you are “independent” or do not require a “nursing facility level of care”,
you may apply on-line for medical assistance, nutrition assistance,
and cash assistance.

Medicare DOES NOT pay for long-term custodial care.

Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) helps cover inpatient care in hospitals,
as well as skilled nursing (rehab) facility, nursing home care (up to 100 days),
hospice, and home health services.

Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) helps cover services or supplies that are
needed to diagnose or treat your medical condition and that meet accepted standards of medical practice.  Health care to prevent illness (like the flu) or detect it at an early stage, when treatment is most likely to work best.
